My songs are like personal journals. Over the years, they have become outlets of expression and observation, joy and pain, love found and love lost. They express my own, yet universal, emotional journeys and life stories.
Every heart sings a song, incomplete, until another heart whispers back. Those who wish to sing always find a song. At the touch of a lover, everyone becomes a poet. -Plato
Although, I have never wanted to share my songs with anyone, it felt tantamount to making a diary public, I am at a point in my life now where I feel more comfortable with the idea of sharing my songs, driven there by age, by the knowledge that I am not the first and only one to suffer a broken heart, and by the hope that perhaps my songs will be a source of comfort to others, while being a source of income for me.
At the heart of my music are lyrics, melody and raw emotion. The recordings are simple, acoustic, one-takes. And, as you will hear, there is a lot I have yet to learn about sound recording or sound engineering, or singing, for that matter. (I am a work in progress.) However, I would like to be a great songwriter someday, whose songs move people, in spite of my Bob Dylan voice. (Okay, maybe not quite ‘Bob Dylan’.)
I have started releasing my songs individually as MP3s and in a series of collections, Songs of My Life, as CDs available for purchase through Amazon. (However, commercially, someday, I would love to have an actual singer record my songs or have them used in movie soundtracks… what? A girl can dream.) In the meantime, you can also listen to my songs and read the lyrics on my Blue Beach Song Music Blog.
So, here is a sampling of the Songs of My Life…

Martie….
I checked out your web-site/blog …..AMAZING !!! …. A lot of dedication, good taste and artistic inspiration went into it. I am going to share your blog with my friends.
Mar
Martie,
I hope you do share your songs. There is something beautiful and wonderful to be able to listen to someone’s creation. From someone who barely sounds good singing in the shower, it is wonderous to hear someone else creating sweet sounds. I can relate to now wanting to share something so private as a diary, yet music seems to remove the personal nature of the song, and turn the song into something that has a life of it’s own. I looked all over your site and your other pages to find one
Tony
Thanks, Tony, for the words of encouragement. I am currently working on the re-mastering of the songs, tweaking the mix of the tracks on some of my songs. The next step is to copyright them as part one of my collection, and then I’ll be selecting a set of songs, create the album artwork, set up my singer-songwriter page on Amazon, and begin sharing my first batch of songs. It’s a bit scary, but nothing in life worth doing is easy. Since I am doing it all myself, it will take a bit more time. Thanks, again, for your words of encouragement. -Martie
I wish I could buy stuff from you but I am sooooooooo broke.
Oh, Tania, that is very sweet. No worries. But if you want and if you have the time some day, I would love to hear your feedback on the product designs and later on about my music. Honest feedback is very valuable – the good, the bad, and the ugly. Thanks for sharing your comments. -Martie
